²⁸ And when he^[a] saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, “What do I have to do with you,^[b] Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me!” ²⁹ For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For it had seized him many times, and he was bound with chains and shackles and^[c] was guarded, and breaking the bonds he would be driven by the demon into the deserted places.) ³⁰ So Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered into him.
